Like so many apps, PixelMet (free with in-app purchase) was built to fill a specific need. "When I am on my Mac," developer Danny Wong told me, "I can edit the location of my photos with the Photos app on OS X. However, I can't do the same thing on iOS, and I couldn't find any third party app that did the job. I thought, why don't I build one myself?"

The result is PixelMet, which Danny calls "a companion to Apple's Photos app on iOS," akin to the "get info" function on a Mac. I've been playing with it for a few days and I've found it's a nifty little utility. Here's our look at PixlMet for iPhone.

Simple Counter is a great tally app for iPhone and iPad

Simple Counter is a great tally app for iPhone and iPad

This week's featured app grew out of the developer's love of board games:

"When I was playing board games with friends," Sweden's Arvid Lunnemark told me, "we usually resorted to using pen and paper to keep score. We all thought that there just had to be an app for this. We were right, but we continued to use pen and paper. Why? Because in the end, pen and paper was simpler to deal with than any of the apps [we found]. It frustrated me that pen and paper could trump an iPhone, and as a result, Simple Counter was born."

An app inspired by gaming. How could I pass on that?

Hours for iPhone announces integration with Freshbooks for easy time tracking and billing.

Hours is the time-tracking app that I reviewed back in October. It's very well done, with features like smart notifications, multiple timer support, color-coding to keep things clear, and handy reports that you can export to PDF or CSV. It's really a nice app.

Fleksy keyboard goes free, offers improvements

Fleksy keyboard goes free, offers improvements

Flesky Keyboard for iOS has announced that it is now free forever, for everyone. I first reviewed Flesky for TUAW in September of 2014, and found it to be fast and capable. Now, everyone can give it a try.

In addition to being free, today's update offers some nice improvements. A new view option called "Highlights" which is like text suggestions for GIFs and stickers. As you type, Flesky notes the content and context and produces a screen of relevant, fun content. Just give it a tap to see what's been suggested.

Glimpses builds photo slideshows, but leaves me flat

Glimpses builds photo slideshows, but leaves me flat

Glimpses ($9.99) from Eternal Storms Software lets you make photos slideshows, or "still motion videos," to share with family and friends. Simply add a few images, pop in a soundtrack, export and you're good to go.

I spent a few days with Glimpses and, while I can say it does in fact work, it left me uninspired. Don't get me wrong, there are some very nice features here. You can make an attractive slideshow with a lightweight, inexpensive app that's a breeze to learn. However, there are also some areas that could use work. What's good about Glimpses is very good; what's confusing is just that. Let's gets started and take a look.

Here's our look at 13 Thieves.

Todoist comes to Apple Watch

Todoist comes to Apple Watch

I appreciate the work that's been happening at Todoist. Early this year, the company began work on Todoist for the Apple Watch. Without a Watch in hand, however, the developers knew they knew proper testing was impossible. So they decided to wait.

Today, the patience and dedication has paid off. Todosit 10.1, with support for Apple Watch, is now available, bringing with it a slew of useful features that make the Watch more than a simple reference too.
