First Annapolis has released the third edition of the Study of Mobile Banking & Payments, a semi-annual consumer research study that tracks consumer adoption and use of the mobile channel for banking and payments. The study shows that 89% of U.S. consumers with Apple Pay compatible devices use the service at least once a week.

In a note to investors — as noted by Bidness Etc. -- Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said a survey on digital payments services involving 507 merchant processing channel partners showed that 44% of merchant customers had used or requested that digital payments solution be implemented. Of the merchants surveyed, 67% wanted Apple Pay to be installed.

The fourth annual MasterCard Mobile Payments Study, developed in partnership with PRIME Research shows that consumers are embracing next generation payment systems such as Apple Pay. The study tracked two million global social media posts about mobile payments across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Forums, Google+ and YouTube, up from 85,000 posts in 2012.
