That's not that far-fetched, and according to an article on AppleInsider this morning, it appears that the iOS 9.1 library cache file refers to "LiFiCapability", meaning that Apple could be very well experimenting with the Li-Fi wireless data protocol.

We know that the App Store is a big deal for Apple -- witness the news earlier this week that customers had spent $1.1 billion at the App Store in the two weeks surrounding Christmas and New Year's.
