This weekend, America celebrates Labor Day. According to Wikipedia, “It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the development, growth, endurance, strength, security, prosperity, productivity, laws, sustainability, persistence, structure, and well-being of the country”. It’s also the “unofficial end of summer” as students head back to schools, people enjoy beaches and barbecues, and so on.Read More
Does your home or apartment smell funny? Perhaps it’s that dog funk or the aroma of cat litter boxes that makes everyone sniff the air and grimace when they come over to visit. Well, don’t fret — Apple World Today has teamed up with the folks from Moodo to give away one of their smart home aroma diffusers to give your home a scent that you and your guests will love.Read More
Thanks to everyone who entered our giveaway for an Awair 2nd Edition Smart Air Quality Monitor. We did a random pick from all of the entries received, and the winner was long-time AWT reader Tom Lisciandra. Tom was a fan of TUAW TV Live back in the days when that show was on the air once a week, and it was nice to see a familiar name as the winner.Read More
It seems like it was only yesterday that three people — myself, Dave Caolo, and Kelly Hodgkins — found ourselves out of a job at The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) and started Apple World Today with the hopes that we could continue the tradition of TUAW. Now it’s down to Dennis Sellers and myself running the show, but we’re still here. This is a “State of the Website” post to let you know how we’re doing after four years (we went live on February 9, 2015).Read More
Last night was our first AWT TV live streaming show on YouTube in a while since we had been hit with the ban hammer of death a while back. The show was not without its technical glitches, as Steve was unable to get screen sharing working on his iPad Pro... which is why he may have to look into getting a used MacBook just for AWT TV. Sigh.Read More
As you know, we’ve been having some difficulties with live-streaming of AWT TV thanks to a ban from YouTube Live. Well, the ban hammer has stopped pounding us and it looks like we’ll be back on the air tonight. AWT Episode 51 starts at 5:30 PM PT (8:30 PM ET) and will run about an hour. Marty and I will be talking a little bit about Apple’s quick recovery thanks to the “not as bad as expected” Q1 financial results, doing some demos of a few new apps that we’re using, and might even have a few accessories to show off.Read More
For many Apple World Today readers, just searching through our archives can result in answers to sticky questions and problems. But sometimes it’s impossible to find an answer on AWT, other websites, or even on Apple’s support pages or when talking to a Genius. That’s when you need to talk to the support personnel at JustAnswer, and it’s as easy as clicking on that smiling face in the lower right corner of the AWT home page.Read More
This episode of AWT TV — our 50th! — was supposed to mark our triumphant return to Facebook Live...only the process that was built to start the Facebook Live event on the Mac and then run over to Steve's iPad Pro didn't work. At least we were able to capture the video and bring it to you this way.Read More
Thanks to a reader with vision issues who asked for our site to be more accessible, we are happy to announce the addition of a new tool to the Apple World Today website. This tool, WebsiteVoice, reads any article or article excerpt with a click on the speaker icon that is visible on the left side of each story. WebsiteVoice works with both macOS and iOS browsers, so all of our friends who would like to listen to articles rather than read them can listen on many Apple devices.Read More
After a bit of a hiatus brought on by a) not being able to livestream to Google, b) vacations, c) my insistence on using my iPad Pro as a laptop, we’re finally going to be back on the air tonight at 5:30 PM PT / 8:30 PM ET. You can watch the show on our Apple World Today Facebook Page. This will be episode 49. Just think - the next episode marks our 50th show.Read More
OK, I’m barely going to get this one in before the ball drops in Times Square, but since I have been traveling (again) I didn’t get around to putting my “best of 2018” list together. You can check out what Dennis and Marty were happy with in 2018 by clicking this link.Read More
Most of us, if we’re being truly honest, join a work conference call the minute it’s scheduled to start. Then, we inevitably encounter launch issues — maybe because we’re trying to join remotely via a mobile device or perhaps the plugin required for entry is too slow — causing frustration and delays for everyone on the call.
Shouldn’t joining a conference call be easier by now?Read More
Today is Christmas Eve, and most of our readers are taking today and tomorrow off to be with their families and friends to celebrate the holidays. We’re on a holiday schedule this week, so content will be a bit lighter than usual until after January 1.
We want to thank all of our readers as we go into our fourth year of publishing this website. There have been times where we weren’t sure we were going to make it, but things seem to be better now thanks to you.Read More
As we get close to the beginning of our fourth year as your source for Apple news, reviews and how-tos, we’re thankful that you have come along for the ride. Apple World Today has managed to survive despite low revenues, mainly thanks to those folks who support the site through sponsorships and Patreon or Team AWT donations.Read More
