Notable apps and updates, Aug. 19-24

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.

macOS

Einstein's legacy has introduced Frames SX 1.0.1, a macOS application that lets users specify and extract still images from their digital movies.

It’s designed for media service personnel, editorial production staff, and corporate media professionals. Images can be previewed, printed, exported and shared with other applications and various photo-centric internet services. Users can extract a single frame as you extract multiple frames in a single simple operation.

Frames SX 1.0.1 requires macOS 10.14 or higher. It’s available as a free download from the Mac App Store in the Photography category. Additional functionality to remove watermarked content is available via in-app purchases.

Einstein's legacy has also rolled out PhotoStory SX 1.1.1, a macOS appthat converts images into video stories for use in promotions, storytelling and creating time-lapse visuals.

It sports a user interface for organizing images, variable speed playback, movie previews, and modern codecs for encoding video output. Additionally, users can share their output movies with other applications and various video-centric internet services.

PhotoStory SX 1.1.1 requires macOS 10.14 or higher. It’s available as a free download from the Mac App Store in the Photography category. Additional functionality to remove watermarked content is available via in-app purchases. 

Zevrix Solutions has announced Package Central 1.11.7, a security update to company's document packaging automation solution for Adobe InDesign.

The app automates InDesign document collection by processing files from watched hot folders. Package Central can serve unlimited users on a network and offers email notifications, PDF/IDML export, and more. Version 1.11.7 is updated to satisfy forthcoming macOS security demands and has now received the seal of approval issued by the Apple notary service.

Package Central can be purchased for $149.95 from the Zevrix website. A demo is available for download. Package Central requires macOS 10.7-10.14 and Adobe InDesign CS5-CC 2019.

Econ Technologies has released ChronoSync Express 1.3.2, an update to their entry level version of ChronoSync for macOS.

It provides the basic file synchronization, backup and scheduling capabilities found in ChronoSync but at a more affordable price ($24.99). Version 1.3.2 includes improved support for synchronizing files with iPads and iPhones via InterConneX and support for macOS Catalina, as well as includes several bug fixes related to invoking Trial Synchronizations,

ChronoSync Express works with macOS 10.10 or higher. Version 1.3.2 is a free update for registered users. A demo is available.

Feral Interactive says The Eight Princes Chapter Pack, DLC for the historical strategy game Total War: THREE KINGDOMS is out now on macOS and Linux.

The Eight Princes Chapter Pack is available now from the Feral Store for $8.99. It requires macOS 10.14.4 or later.

Spiel Studios has launched Man Vs. Missiles: Combat 1.0, the second chapter in the Man Vs. Missiles series. In the game players test their piloting skills by flying their plane for as long as they can, while avoiding enemy jets which are continuously trying to bring you down. You also have a gun to shoot back.

Mattel has rolled out Hot Wheels Infinite Loop, a digital racing game that brings the Hot Wheels catalog to mobile devices for smash-and-crash speed competition.
