Twelve South’s $59.99 Compass Pro Matte Black is a new version (colorwise, at least) for the iPad Pro. It vertically displays the Apple tablet for connecting to an external display for dual-screen setups. And it raises it up and out of harm’s way from spills and accidents.
Crafted in dark solid steel, the Compass Pro Matte Black has a wide and stable footprint to support even the largest of iPads (12.9-inch) in either portrait or landscape mode. In addition it sports an adjustable back leg that provides two display angles (display and active).
Lower the third leg to the “desktop active” angle, and you have a great set-up for reviewing email and moving objects between apps. You can fold the Compass Pro down to a typing wedge for drawing. And the stand will fold completely flat and includes a travel bag, so you can toss it in your pack and go.
The Compass Pro Matte Black looks great with Apple products thanks to its brushed aluminum construction. There are a variety of iPad stands available. But I’ve yet to see one that’s more versatile than the Compass Pro.
