Apple Daily Report: OWC acquires Akitio (and more news)

Since Steve and I can’t cover everything, at the end of each week day, we’ll offer this wrap-up of news items you should check out. 

OWC has acquired Akitio, a maker of external computer storage products and accessories, with an emphasis on Thunderbolt 3 technology. OWC's Woodstock, Illinois facility will serve as worldwide headquarters for all OWC brands, including Akitio.


According to Bloomberg, CEO Tim Cook plans to address Apple staff today about the situation of flagging iPhone sales, dipping stock price, and more at an all-hands meeting where he will take questions from workers.

Apple stock opened at $144 today on the stock market, with share prices sliding about 9% after the tech giant lowered its revenue guidance by up to $9 billion for the first quarter of its 2019 fiscal year. 

As noted by AppleInsider, a Florida woman is lucky to be alive after her car flipped into a marsh by a Tampa highway, apparently saved by a combination of her Apple Watch, iPhone, and Google Maps.

Charter Spectrum has released its promised Apple TV app with support for tvOS 12's "zero sign-on" functions. It can be downloaded at the Apple TV App Store.
