Google Earth iOS app updated to 64-bit, adds new features

iOS 11 will drop support for 32-bit apps, and one app that had a lot of users concerned was Google Earth for iOS. The free app was sadly showing up as 32-bit, as it hadn't been updated in quite a while. Today, Google finally updated the app with 64-bit compatibility and added a bunch of new features at the same time.

To begin with, Google Earth now has a stylish new app icon, that big blue marble you see at right. Google reports that:

Google Earth 9 is a major upgrade with brand new features.

  • Choose your own adventure with Voyager. Experience interactive stories from around the world.
  • Discover new places with Knowledge Cards. Flip through cards and learn about local landmarks.
  • Orbit the world in 3D. Use the new 3D button or tilt the map with two fingers.
  • Snap and share a Postcard. Capture snapshots of locations and share them with your friends.
  • Feeling Lucky? Roll the dice and see where the world takes you.

I love using Google Earth when I'm visiting places or planning travel, and I'm sure you'll find the new version to be just as useful as I do.
