Review: Archeer 2-in-1 Charging Station for iPhone and Apple Watch

A growing number of iPhone users now own an Apple Watch as well, so the need for combined charging docks that can charge both devices has grown as well. One of the newer entrants into this market is Archeer, which has introduced the 2-in-1 Charging Station for iPhone and Apple Watch ($32.99, affiliate link, use promo code NGL7S5TD at checkout for an additional 20% off).

Archeer 2-in-1 Charging Station

Like many of the other dual docks on the market, the Archeer 2-in-1 Charging Station features a Lightning port for charging the iPhone and uses the Apple Watch charger that comes with each watch to charge the Apple Watch. The Watch and band loop around an "arm" that comes up from the base of the charging station.

The Apple Watch charger cable needs to be supplied by the user; this really isn't an extra cost as it is supplied by Apple as original equipment. The bottom of the unit -- held in place by four screws -- is removed to add the cable, and there is a cable management unit to ensure that excess cable doesn't clutter up a desktop.

The 2-in-1 Charging Station comes in one color, as it is crafted from polished aluminum. I count that as one of the only faults with the 2-in-1 Charging Station, as most competing chargers come at least in silver, gold and space gray, with a few in rose gold as well.

There's a small aluminum "tongue" that sits behind the iPhone's location to provide support for the phone as it charges, and the Lightning connector is on a tilting platform to help accommodate different sized iPhones (it works on everything from an iPhone 5 to the latest iPhone 7 Plus) and cases.

Archeer supplies a small screwdriver and extra screws so installing the Apple Watch charger isn't a hassle. Once everything is installed, there's just one cable extending from the back of the unit that needs to be plugged into a charger block. The Apple Watch charger fits snugly into a cutout in the top of the charging arm, and the cable is hidden behind a removable metal piece.

The aluminum base provides some bulk to keep the charging station from moving, and there are two non-slip pads on the bottom of the 2-in-1 Charging Station to keep it stationary as well.

All in all, the 2-in-1 Charging Station looks good, works as advertised, and requires just a little bit of setup with the included tools. While it only includes one Lightning cable and you must use your own Apple Watch charger with it, that's common among many of the other dual chargers on the market. The best part? The price tag. It's $32.99 on Amazon right now, and you can use a special promo code (NGL7S5TD) at Amazon checkout for an additional 20% off.
