QuickerTek wireless antenna upgrades lets you beef up AirPort, Time Capsule products

Apple has reportedly ceased development of new version of its AirPort Base Station and Tim Capsule. However, the routers remain popular, well-designed products, and you can beef ‘em up with QuickerTek's wireless antenna upgrades. They're pricey, but they provide dual-band 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz WiFi and can triple the range of any version of the Base Station Extreme and/or Time Capsule.

With the addition of six high gain dual-band 5dBi antennas, users can position the upright and articulated antennas to work best for their specific work area. The upgrade also boosts AppleTV and any other wireless networking task. Users can also experience the improved wireless for their broadband WiFi connections to DVD players for streaming media such as Netflix and Hulu.

Users have additional options to connect any other antenna type, including an outdoor directional antenna for long distance wireless. Those users with multi-building installations can extend their networks with WiFi coverage.

The stock Airport Extreme Base Station AC or Time Capsule don't support external antennas. To add the antenna adaptor cable ports, these units are machined for connection to the internal wireless board. The QuickerTek adaptor cables that connect to the custom CNC- machined antenna mounting base either fit on the top of the Base Station or Time Capsule or can be remotely placed using extension cables.

Three different upgrades are available: Airport Base Station Extreme AC, 2TB Time Capsule and the 3TB Time Capsule from $199 to $628 (some configuration include built-in SSDs). Customers can also send in their own unit to be modified at a price of $199.

This Base Station Extreme AC Antenna Upgrade works with macOS10.7 and later, as does the Airport Extreme. The QuickerTek antennas can be mounted to all three versions of the Airport Extreme as well as the 2TB and 3TB Time Capsule versions.
