Notable apps and app updates for Jan. 3, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks.

macOS Apps/Updates

Maintain has served up Cocktail 10.1.4 (Sierra Edition), a new edition of Cocktail for users running macOS Sierra.

It’s a general purpose utility for macOS that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. Version 10.1.4 fixes compatibility issues with Logic Pro X audio units plug-ins and contains many other bug fixes as well as overall performance improvements

Cocktail costs $19 for a single user license and available for purchase from the Maintain website. When unregistered, Cocktail runs in demo mode and will expire after the tenth launch.

Cisdem has conjured up version 4.2.0 of OCR Wizard. The app can convert PDFs, scanned documents, and image files in over 40 languages into searchable and editable files.

Version 4.2.0 provides improved editing functions. It’s available for macOS 10.9 and higher.

OCRWizard is available now at the Cisdem website. A demo is available for download. Normally, a single license of OCRWizard costs US$59.99; a two Mac license is $79.99; and a five Mac license is $119.99. However, prices are reduced 30% for a limited time.

Scorpion Research has announced Scorpion BarCode 2.80, an update to its barcode creation software for macOS. The upgrade is optimized for macOS Sierra.

The utility is designed to facilitate the creation and printing of all major barcode symbologies in EPS, PDF, PNG, or TIFF file formats. You can integrate barcodes into database, spreadsheet and word processor applications. A command line version is also provided to build scripted solutions. 

Scorpion BarCode 2.80 is compatible with macOS 10.6 or later. A demo is available for download. A single user license is approximately US$121. Multiple user and educational discounts are available.

iOS Apps/Updates

Logicnap has introduced Tiltspace 1.0. The free, interactive puzzle game was specifically designed to test how quickly you can take on a tricky challenge. Tiltspace features over 100 levels.
