Hi, this is Steve Sande for Apple World Today, and this is the AWT News Update for September 1, 2016. Not surprisingly for the week before a major Apple event, it’s a really slow news day today, so we have just a couple of notes for you.

We now know exactly what one of the announcements at the Apple September 7th event will be: new Beats by Dre products. A promotional email from a Beats partner was inadvertently sent to iGen.fr, and Beats told the site to remove a screenshot of that email. It’s expected that Beats or Apple might have new wireless Bluetooth earbuds called AirPods at the event, although it’s unknown which company or branding will be used. Since the new iPhone will most likely do away with the 3.5-mm headphone jack, Beats and Apple could also have new Lightning-connected headphones or earbuds to show off.

Prior to the event on the 7th, Apple has launched a new blog promoting new iOS 10 third-party app integration with Siri. To begin with, the blog is highlighting Siri’s image-related search capabilities. For example, with Pinterest people can search for pins fitting specific themes. Commanding Siri to “find men’s fashion pins on Pinterest” launches iOS straight into Pinterest with “men’s” and “fashion” in the search box. One of the more fascinating uses is seen in the art filter app Pikazo, which will process photos by voice command if the user names a recognized subject — such as “my wife” — and the filter style. iOS 10 and the new third-party app integrations are expected to launch later this month with the delivery of new iPhones.

That’s all for today; We’ll be back tomorrow afternoon with another edition of the AWT News Update.
