Hi, this is Steve Sande for Apple World Today, and this is the AWT News Update for August 15, 2016…which just happened to be a rather slow day for Apple news.
The sixth developer beta of macOS Sierra has hit the Mac App Store, which means that a public beta update will also be appearing soon. Although we’re not exactly sure yet what the changes are, the timely release of each beta shows that Apple is making solid progress on fixing bugs and adding in functionality. Some of those features include Auto-Unlock for Apple Watch users, which unlocks the Mac without a password as a user nears the Mac. Siri on the Mac is perhaps the most impressive feature, though, and our initial testing shows that it is well worth the wait. The sixth versions of the developer betas for iOS, watchOS and tvOS also appeared today.
Honda today announced that the 2017 Civic Hatchback will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EX, EX-L and Sport Touring versions of the car support the technologies through Display Audio. The only version of the car that comes with that is the Sport Touring model, so the other versions will require car buyers to buy an upgrade.
If you’re not a member of Team AWT yet, we have a reason for you to sign up today. Apple World Today is giving away a Drobo 5Dt RAID array with five 2TB drives.
