Survey: a more powerful Siri will be a key factor in future iPhone sales

A new survey by the ad tech company Fluent— as noted by AppleInsider — suggests updates to Siri and the unlocking of the personal digital assistant's software development kit could be a key factor in future iPhone adoption.

About 42% of iPhone owners indicated they would be "somewhat more likely" to purchase the next iPhone if the Siri voice recognizing assistant is vastly improved. Apple is expected to announce Siri innovations at next week’s Worldwide Developer Conference, including a software development kit.

However, Siri alone won’t re-ignite iPhone sales above the Street’s expectations, however. The survey found about 24% of iPhone users are "much more likely" to buy the next Apple smartphone.

"Overall, Apple needs to recapture that wow factor, and could potentially do so with more aggressive moves into the automotive and television markets," Jordan Cohen, CMO for Fluent told AppleInsider.
