The Apple Store at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines, Iowa, is getting a major makeover,” according to The Des Moines Register. It’s Apple’s only retail store in the state.
Apple is taking over the former Brookstone space to its west, and the Clarks shoe store to the east. The expansion will nearly triple the size of the often crowded store. Apple will be temporarily housed in a space across from the construction in a storefront formerly occupied by New York & Company, which recently closed, Randy Tennison, general manager of the mall, told the Register.
Construction on the new Apple Store will take about five months, he added.A building permit issued by West Des Moines listed the value of the construction project at $3 million. The new store will be about 7,160 square feet. There's no word yet on whether the revamped store will sport the "next gen" design of the new store in Germantown, Tennessee.
Apple has 481 retail stores in 18 countries and an online store available in 39 countries.
