Apple wants to sell used iPhones in India

Apple has sought permission from the government in India to sell used iPhones in the country, according to The Times of India.

"An application from Apple regarding import of certified pre-owned iPhones for sale in India and manufacturing certified pre-owned iPhones for sale in India has been received in the ministry of environment and forests," telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the publication.

Apple India has also filed an application to open Apple branded retail stores in India with the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP). Last November it was reported that Apple crossed the $1 billion sales mark in its India operations for the first time in the fiscal year that ended in March, according to results filed with the Registrar of Companies (RoC) on Wednesday.
