Notable apps and app updates for February 5, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks for Mac OS X and iOS.

OS X apps/updates

Hey, here's something you can do this weekend instead of watching some football game on Sunday: your income taxes! Our public service announcement today is that TurboTax 2015 is still available for OS X and it's still free. You pay when you file your return. On second thought, maybe you should party all weekend and wait until next week or April 15 to get your taxes done.

Instagram is great, except if you're on a Mac. There's a pretty cool Instagram uploader called Up ($19.99) that makes it as simple as drag and drop to get your content up to Instagram from your Mac. The app was updated to version 3.10.1 today, adding some minor enhancements.

Need something to spice up your iWork documents? Elements for iWork ($19.99) from Jumsoft is a collection of high-quality images for use in Pages, Keynote, Numbers and even iBooks Author. All images include transparent backgrounds and are in PNG format for easy adjustment of brightness, tint, and more.

iOS apps/updates

The Airmail ($4.99) email client is now available for iOS (previously Mac-only), and it will not only run on your iPhone and iPad, but also on that Apple Watch on your wrist. It works with just about any email provider, lets you bring in and manage mail for multiple accounts, and has rich integrations with other apps and services. Perfect if you're not happy with the standard Apple email client!

Project management has never been easier on an iPad or iPhone. The good folks at OmniGroup have been tweaking OmniPlan 3 ($74.99) to perfection, now adding a Network Diagram View, Leveling Priority, a "Catch-Up and Reschedule" feature, a Meeting Task Type, Monte Carlo Simulation, Auto Effort Estimation and more! The best PM tool just got better.
