On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks for Mac OS X and iOS.
OS X apps/updates
One of my favorite OS X apps just got better. Day One, the journaling app that has been out for five years now on both OS X and iOS, has been upgraded to an all-new product called Day One 2: Journal + Notes (US$39.99, introductory price of $19.99). The new app lets you create multiple journals, add multiple photos per entry, and syncs through the various versions on different devices through a free sync service that is incredibly fast. There are now list, photo, map and calendar views; the map view can be powerful in following up on trip journals. There's still a classic version, but if you're a dedicated journal keeper like me and you're already using Day One, you will definitely want to upgrade to Day One 2.
Hey, guess what? Day One 2 is available for iOS as well! The app for iPad and iPhone is $9.99, $4.99 as a one-week introductory price. I won't go into a lot of details other than to say that there's an Apple Watch companion app that enables wrist-created entries into your journal of choice, complete with location tag. I've found the synchronization between Day One on iOS and Day One on Mac to be perfect in the past, and it's even better now.
