UPDATE: It appears that services came back up at about 8 AM PT.
Apple has updated its System Status page to reflect that certain services are currently unavailable. The issues seem to be most related to stores, and the issues started a little over an hour ago at about 6:55 AM PT/ 9:55 AM ET.
According to the detailed timeline, all store services are down for some users. The note says that "Users may be unable to access the above stores/services or make purchases. The services in question include:
- App Store
- Apple TV
- iBooks Store
- iTunes in the Cloud
- iTunes Match
- iTunes Store
- Mac App Store
- Volume Purchase Program
