Both of the new RAID storage solutions feature 8 bays and are transportable Thunderbolt 2 units. Both can be set up in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10 configurations, with the ev Series model boasting transfer rates of up to 1,200MB/s and the base model showing up to 1,350MB/s rates.
What's the main difference between the two models? The G-SPEED Shuttle XL with ev Series Bay Adapters has six enterprise-class hard drives installed, and two of the eight bays feature ev Series Bay Adapters that are compatible with any portable G-DRIVE ev external drives. This includes the G-DRIVE ev RaW, G-DRIVE ev 200, G-DRIVE, ev RaW SSD and the ev Series Reader RED MINI-MAG Edition. The G-SPEED Shuttle XL with ev Series Bay Adapters is $3,299.95 in an 18TB configuration, $3,499.95 with 24TB, $4,999.95 for 36TB, and $5,999.95 for 48TB.
The G-SPEED Shuttle XL provides up to 64TB of storage with each bay holding an enterprise-class hard drive. The G-SPEED Shuttle XL is $3,499.95 for 18TB, $4,499.95 for 32TB, $5,999.95 for 48TB, and $7,999.95 for 64TB.
Both devices are equipped with an integrated handle to help move the enclosure easily, and can fit in a standard protective case that can fit into an airplane overhead bin. For those who need to work on multi-stream 4K video workflows, these solutions are an excellent choice.
