You can buy a variety of adapters to use with the input-limited, 12-inch MacBook from Apple. However, I recently ran across the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter from Choetech, which is convenient, as it serves multiple purposes.
The teeny Mac laptop only has a solo USB-C port, but the adapter lets you connect another USB-C device, a USB 3.0 device, and an HDMI device. To use, you just plug it into the MacBook.
The USB-C port on the Choetech gadget means you can charge the laptop while attaching external devices. The adapter’s HDMI port lets you mirror the MacBook display to a HDMI-enabled TV, project or display at up to 1080p at 60Hz or UHD (3840 x 2160) at 30Hz. It also outputs video content like movies and captured video.
The Digital AV Multiport Adapter’s USB 3.0 lets you connect devices such as your flash drive, external hard drive, camera, or an USB cable for, say, syncing your iPhone. However, the Choetech adapter’s USB 3.0 port only supports 2.5-inch external hard drive with less than 1TB of storage.
Despite this, the multiport device is very handy if you own a MacBook. For some strange reason, the Digital AV Multiport Adapter isn’t listed at the Choetech website. But you grab one on Amazon for around $36.
