In December 2008 the company picked up a 3.6% stake in Imagination Technologies, a graphics chip maker. Earlier this year there were rumors that Apple would buy the company, but that never happened.
Metcalfe isn’t the only former Imagination Technologies employee at Apple. Engineers Dave Roberts, Jonathan Redshaw, Simon Nield, and Benjamin Bowman are also on board. A search of former Imagination Technologies employees now working at Apple yields 25 results, according to MacRumors.
