Notable apps and app updates for Oct. 11, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks.

iOS Apps/Updates

Magnin & Associates has launched Harbor Crane Challenge 1.0 for iOS and tvOS In the $1.99 game, you’re in charge of loading and unloading a massive container ship that just pulled up to your dock. Use the on-screen controllers to move the crane left and right, the container from the ship to the dock or the dock to the ship, and raise and lower the container onto the ship or the waiting truck.

Semler Heart is a new interactive mobile app providing information to make you aware of the causes of cardiac disease and heart attacks. The free app uses Apple’s HealthKit to track your daily steps and awards you points to be redeemed at retail.

CoopToons has debuted Green - Budget Forecasting 1.0. The $1.99 personal budgeting app shows users their lowest anticipated balance within the next year, today's predicted balance after current pending transactions and the balance that should be sitting in their bank account right now.

Newtronium has unveiled Francesco's Fly Frenzy 1.0. In the game players must control the tongue of insatiable frog, Francesco, aiming to devour as many flies as possible while simultaneously avoiding wasp. Fly Frenzy is free, but does tout in-app purchases.

macOS Apps/Updates

Ergonis Software has announced Typinator 6.11, a new version of their text expander for Mac OS X.

It’s a tool for automating the process of inserting frequently used text and auto-correcting typing errors. Version 6.11 is compatible with macOS Sierra.

Typinator requires macOS 10.6 or newer. The upgrade to Typinator 6.11 is free for anyone who owns a valid license for Typinator 6.x. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For new users the price is $24.99.

Cisdem has conjured up version 4.0 of OCR Wizard. The app can convert PDFs, scanned documents, and image files in over 40 languages into searchable and editable files.

Version 4.0 reportedly provides more accurate text recognition and adds business card recognition and new formats. It’s also macOS Sierra compatible.

OCRWizard is available now at the Cisdem website. A demo is available for download. A single license of OCRWizard costs US$59.99; a two Mac license is $79.99; and a five Mac license is $119.99. The app requires macOS 10.1 or higher.

CS Odessa has rolled out its updated (and free) Basic Pie Charts solution in ConceptDraw Solution Park. It contains templates, varied samples, and a library of vector stencils for drawing pie charts, donut charts, and pie graph worksheets. 

The revved Basic Pie Charts introduces a new set of graphic tools that provide a range of basic pie chart types to support documentation and graphics that deal with statics and data. ConceptDraw Pro is compatible with macOS and Windows.

It’s supported by the business solutions located in ConceptDraw Solution Park and retails for $$199 per end user license. ConceptDraw Pro10 is included in ConceptDraw Office 3, which retails for $499.
