I've been a big fan of ClamCase's iPad keyboards for a while; they offer unbeatable protection and a design that allows the keyboard to be rotated 360° for easy tablet use. The company was purchased by accessory manufacturer Incipio last year, and today the new owners announced five new high-end keyboards for the ClamCase line.
What makes the ClamCase keyboards unique is not just their design, but the premium features that the company is adding to some of the units. The ClamCase+ for iPad Pro ($170) and iPad Air 2 ($150) will be available in space gray, silver or gold housings, with the iPad Pro version adding an Apple Pencil storage slot. Keyboard brightness is adjustable, and the company expects to ship the ClamCase+ in the second quarter of 2016. Note that the iPad Pro version uses Bluetooth rather than Apple's Smart Connector to link the keyboard to the tablet.
The ClamCase Prompt for iPad Air 2 ($200) is very unique. It adds an OLED screen (see image above) to the back of the case, making it possible for users to get notifications while the keyboard is in the closed position covering the iPad screen. The Prompt for iPad Air 2 will ship in a white/silver model in the second quarter.
Next, Incipio is releasing a combo battery pack/keyboard in the $200 ClamCase+ Power for iPad Air 2. The device comes in black only and features a 6,000 mAh battery pack that can recharge the iPad it is protecting or another device. The final device is the ClamCase Pro for iPad mini 4 ($130), which appears to be similar to the existing devices being sold by ClamCase. It will come in gray or silver/white later this quarter.
