Flyshark 2 folding keyboard sports Bluetooth 4.2 and special iOS features

Folding keyboards are nothing new -- I can recall using them back in the days of Palm PDAs. But as with all of the rest of our technology, things just keep getting better. The Flyshark 2 is currently looking for funding on Kickstarter and has reached about 40% of its funding goal with a little over three weeks to go. So why should you back this project? Let's take a look.

Using Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth 4.2), it's possible for the keyboard to get up to 1 year of battery life off of a single charge. At 9.96 inches wide (253 mm) and 2.95 inches deep (75 mm) when unfolded, the Flyshark 2 provides a surprisingly large keyboard area. The design team used 7000 series aluminum for the exterior shell, the same material used in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. As such, the Flyshark 2 weighs only 150 grams -- about 5.3 ounces.

The keyboard also does away with a physical power switch, instead turning itself on and off depending on the user's activity. For the iPhone, there are special features including search, start music, selfie, and screenshot that are accessed through function key combinations.

At this time, you can back the Flyshark 2 keyboard project on Kickstarter and get one of the keyboards delivered in November, 2015 for as little as $46. If you've been looking for the right keyboard to go with your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus to turn it into the mini-tablet of your dreams, then Flyshark 2 might be just the perfect project to back.
