Boinx Software is "rebooting" an iOS app called PartySnapper in a new package -- as an Apple TV app called PhotoWall+ (US$4.99, available starting on December 8, 2015 and until December 10 for just $0.99).
PartySnapper was an idea ahead of its time; the app let partygoers snap photos and then have them hosted by one person for viewing on a "photo wall" that would be created by connecting an iPhone or iPad to a TV or projector. As Boinx's Oliver Breidenbach points out in a post about the release of the new Apple TV app, not many people were willing to buy the adapter necessary to connect an iOS device to their TV.
That's not the case with the Apple TV, of course, and now PartySnapper comes as two apps with new names. PhotoWall+ arrive in the tvOS App Store tomorrow and is used to create a photo wall on a TV connected to an Apple TV, while PhotoWall+ Cam is a free app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch that is used by partygoers to shoot photos that are displayed on the photo wall.
It's a great idea whose time has finally come; this will be great for parties, weddings, and even conferences, letting attendees shoot photos and then have them shared on the big screen. PhotoWall+ stores the photo walls and images in iCloud, and the company has a web app for downloading the photos.
