Apple's Lightning to USB Camera Adapter now supports iPhones

The US$29 Lightning to USB Camera Adapter is an unsung hero of cabledom; in the past, it let you connect a DSLR or point-and-shoot digital camera with a USB port to your iPad in order to back up photos from the camera. Well, with iOS 9.2 and the adapter, it's now possible to connect your compatible iPhone (iPhone 5 or newer) to those same cameras.

The adapter features a Lightning plug on one end and a full-sized female USB port on the other end, and a surprising number of cameras include a way to use a USB cable for connectivity to a computer -- or now, an iPhone or iPad. 9to5Mac noted that the adapter is still apparently USB 2.0, unlike the recently updated SD Card Camera Reader that was bumped up to USB 3.0.
