On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks for iOS and Mac OS X:
Especially here in the dry Southwest United States, we just don't get enough water into our systems to keep us properly hydrated. Fixing that problem is the idea behind WaterMinder! (US$1.99), a universal app with an Apple Watch companion. WaterMinder! makes it simple to get reminders to drink enough water, keep tabs during the day on your progress, and even store a history through the Apple Health app. Check out those Apple Watch screens (and even a Watch complication) at the top of this post.
Now that you're properly hydrated, keep yourself amused with the new Giphy app for iPhone. You can never have enough animated GIFs, and the app makes discovery, viewing, and sharing of the most funny or obnoxious GIFs a snap. Oh, and did we mention that it's free?
Mac OS X Apps/Updates
Hooked on sending those GIFs from the Giphy app? What are you going to do once you sit down at your Mac? Never fear - the GIF Keyboard (free) is here. It's the first app we've seen that actually tells you how useful it can be -- "Express just how much you love pizza, annoy your friends with that one lyric you just can't stop singing..."
And now for something different. Have you ever wanted to learn how to use iMovie, complete with lessons on how to do things like use green screen effects or add maps? Lessons for iMovie includes six free lessons, and if your urge to become a famed Hollywood director becomes great enough, you can purchase additional lessons for $2.99 each or $29.99 for all. It's highly rated and a great way for you or your kids to master iMovie.
