My name is James Kendrick and I'm thrilled to be the newst member of the AWT family. I've been covering mobile tech since before tech sites existed, and I'm a self-proclaimed gadget addict.
Way back in the day I started jkOnTheRun, my personal tech blog, just for fun. It grew rapidly and was acquired by GigaOM. They hired me to keep writing for it so I made a career change to my dream of writing about mobile tech full time.
I covered mobile tech for GigaOM for several years and then five years ago I jumped over to ZDNet where I still write about mobile tech today. I'll continue to do that while contributing my thoughts and views about it here on AWT.
I am platform agnostic but have some good Apple gear that I use to get my work done. I have a 2013 MacBook Air, 11-inch, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, and most recently an Apple Watch. The MBA pretty much stays on the desk in my home office, a loft in downtown Houston, and many days the iPad Air 2 is the main system for working remotely.
While my home office is nice, most mornings I head out to spend the day working all over downtown. I like to see what mobile gear people use in public and this is the best way to do so.
Since I write for a living I use a keyboard with the iPad Air 2. My favorite keyboard currently is the BrydgeAir for the iPad Air 2. It turns my iPad into a MacBook clone and it is the best I've used, by a wide margin. That's says a lot as I've owned, tested, and reviewed dozens of iPad keyboards.
So now you know who this JK guy is and why he's here. I've been a long-time friend of Steve and can't wait to share my take on this thing called mobile.
