Apple to start mass production of new iPad Air in Q1 2016

Apple plans to start mass production of the new iPad Air in the first quarter (Q1) of 2016, reports The China Times reported, citing unidentified supply chain sources. The China Times is an English language newspaper in Taiwan.

According to IT Pro, the iPad Air 3 will keep the 9.7in display size but it will have a bump in resolution up to 2334 x 3112 pixels at around 401ppi. The next gen iPad Air is expected to pack an 8-megapixel camera in the rear, and a 2.1 megapixels on the front. It’s also supposed to be even thinner (about five millimeters).

Other rumors say it will sport will sport an A9X chipset (almost certain), a 3D display (doubtful), and an IPX7 waterproofing certificate (unlikely, but this would be welcome). Look for the iPad Air 3 to arrive in March.
