Apple and Beats release the Pill+ speaker

Apple and Beats have released the Pill+, the first speaker made since the latter was bought by the former. Apple purchased Beats last year for US$3 billion. The Beats Pill+ costs $230, comes in black or white, and will be available at and authorized Beats retailers next month.

The Beats Pill+ is slightly larger than the original Beats Pill speaker and boasts a stereo active 2-way crossover system. Tweeter and woofer separation uses the same acoustic mechanics found in professional recording studios around the world.

The folks at Beats claim the Pill+ speaker has a 12-hour battery life. The Lightning cable and power supply provides a full charge in three hours. Additionally, Beats has announced the Beats Pill+ app for iOS and Android devices. Available for the iPhone and iPad for free on the Apple App Store, it allows you to manage your speaker with your fingertips. Using the interface, you can toggle between different modes of play with a simple tap or allow a friend to simultaneously pair to your speaker.
