iOS 9 may have just been introduced 19 days ago, but it's now on 60 percent of all of the iOS devices in the wild. That information comes from Mixpanel, which uses data from its proprietary API in apps and ads on mobile devices to track a number of trends in the industry.
After the release of iOS 9 on September 16, 2015, it took just 8 days -- until September 24, 2015 -- for iOS 9 to become the dominant operating system in use on iPads, iPhones, and the iPod touch.
The number of people using earlier operating systems than iOS 8 is expected to stay rather static, as there are plenty of older devices that cannot make the jump to the new OS.
