The makers of the US$59.95 Tablift describe it as "the world's best tablet stand." I can't vouch for that, but it is useful. And it works with all versions of the iPad (full sized and mini), though I can’t vouch for how it will work with the upcoming iPad Pro.
I used the Tablift with my iPad Air while laying horizontally in bed as I reclined to watch movies or to read. It worked like a charm. Once I had the adjustable legs adjusted for the bed, I easily and securely placed the iPad in place and relaxed to watch a movie or read. I even played some games. All of this was accomplished with the greatest of ease and wonderful freedom of hand movement.
I sometimes have my iPad Air in a rotating case. I found it somewhat awkward to remove the iPad Air from this rotating case in order to use it in the Tablift, but not so awkward that I did not enjoy using the stand. And it's certainly a useful addition to my iPad accessories.
