Apple will announce its fourth quarter financial results today after the market closes. Naturally, Apple World Today will be covering the announcement.
Most analysts concur that Apple will have another blow out quarter and handily beat analysts estimates with a huge iPhone 6S backwind, Apple Music, and the anticipation of Apple TV going from hobby to another serious revenue stream, according to AppleInvestor.
“If you are long options on AAPL, whether you have Calls or Puts, you should consider your position carefully, because after Apple announces earnings, Apple volatility is likely to drop sharply,” says Ernie Vartimos of AppleInvestor. “This is called volatility crush. And usually when this happens, premium in long options will evaporate. I thought Apple was immune to this bass backwards Wall Street thinking, that's usually attributed to the risk-on/risk-off knee jerk reaction to Fed announcements. But Colin Gillis (BGC Financials analyst) thinks if the numbers are too good, that might mean forward guidance won't be able to keep up, and therefore investors will punish Apple investors.”
