Notable apps and app updates for Sept. 20, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks.

Mac OS X Apps/Updates

Deal has released Time Out 2.1, an update to their break reminder app for macOS. Using a computer for hours on end can lead to eye, back, and neck strain. Time Out 2 offers users gentle reminders to take breaks, allowing them to stretch and relax.

Today is also the 25th anniversary of founding Dejal. To celebrate this and the release of Time Out 2.1, Dejal is offering a special discount coupon code on all Mac apps sold directly from their site.

Time Out 2.1 is free, and is available worldwide through the Mac App Store in the Health and Fitness category, as well as the Dejal website. Advanced features are available via easy in-app donations.

Jumsoft has announced changes in the suite of its Toolbox applications. Toolboxes for Pages, Keynote, iWork, and Microsoft Office have been given a major interface revamp, including a tag-based search feature to make browsing through thousands of items much easier.

In addition, all Toolboxes are compatible with the new macOS Sierra. Jumsoft's various Toolbox apps provide templates and illustrations for iWork and MS Office for Mac.

Users can download Jumsoft's Toolbox applications on the Mac App Store free of charge. They requires macOS El Capitan or Sierra.

Bare Bones Software has released BBEdit 11.6.2, an update to its text and code editor. The new version adds compatibility with macOS Sierra along with more than two dozen other changes, refinements and fixes for specific reported issues.

BBEdit 11.6.2 maintains the recently introduced evaluation model in which the full, complete feature set is available for the first 30 days of use. At the end of the 30-day evaluation period, the permanently functional feature set changes to include BBEdit's editing capabilities, but not its web authoring tools or other exclusive features. BBEdit's exclusive features may be re-enabled at any time with a purchased license.

BBEdit 11.6.2 requires macOS 10.9.5 or later. It’s a free update to all BBEdit 11 customers. For new users, BBEdit has a suggested retail price of $49.99. Special upgrade pricing is available to owners of BBEdit 10 for $29.99, and to owners of BBEdit 9 or earlier for US$39.99. New licenses and upgrade licenses, as well as a demo version, are available directly from the Bare Bones Software website.
