Rumor: iPhone 7 could sport a Smart Connector

The Japanese site Mac Otakara says the upcoming iPhone 7 (the mock-up is courtesy of will sport a Smart Connector, which could mean a Smart Keyboard for the next gen Apple smartphone.

The Smart Connector — introduced with the iPad Pro — allows peripherals to be attached magnetically and requires no cords, pairing, or plugs. The Smart Keyboard is made by Apple and attaches to the iPad Pro (both sizes) to offer a physical keyboard.

Odds on the iPhone 7 having a Smart Connector and Smart Keyboard: 30%. I don't think it will happen. Do we really need a physical keyboard for our smartphone — even if it’s one of the iPhone 6s Plus models?
