Apple opens iTunes donations page for earthquake relief efforts

Apple has opened a donations page in iTunes to support relief efforts in Japan and Ecuador, countries hit by catastrophic earthquakes in recent days.

The company is partnering with the American Red Cross for the donations. You can make donations in $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, and $200 denominations.

Two powerful earthquakes struck the southern Japanese island of Kyushu last Thursday and Saturday, leaving almost 60 dead and more than a thousand injured. Ecuador was hit by a magnitude 7.8 quake, which was felt around the Andean nation of 16 million people, causing panic as far away as the highland capital Quito and destroying buildings, bridges and roads and killing at least 77 people.
