Notable apps and app updates for March 30, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks.

iOS Apps/Updates for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Light Pillar has introduced Scribo - Head to Head Word Challenge 1.0. In the free word-spelling game, two friends compete with the same set of 19 random letters with only 48 seconds to spell as many words as they can. 

1 Echo Charlie an aviation technology has launched wxw4, an aviation weather app. The free utility interprets weather data and then presents it in agraphical presentation.

Ovilex Soft has rolled out Driving School 2016. It’s a free driving simulator in which players climb behind the wheel of a car, truck or bus, in an effort to earn their license for any/each respective vehicle type. To succeed, users will need to demonstrate superior driving skills across multiple environments, such as cities, country roads, highways, deserts, and mountains. They'll also need to navigate various weather conditions and more.

BigBelly Productions has debuted Trivia Search 1.0. It’s a free word game that challenges you to find the hidden word using hints and clues provided within each trivial type question.

Perfectrix Technologies has debuted Arrow Fire 1.0. It’s a free tap-to-shoot strategy game featuring over 100 levels. Players must shoot a moving target with their arrow while avoiding obstacles. 


Edward Filowat has announced SongPost 1.11. It’s an update of the $2.99 tool that allows you to post audio files or voice recordings to any site such as Facebook and YouTube, Instagram, SoundCloud, and Tumblr. A video is instantly created from the original audio file by adding a photo along with optional text overlays and video effects. Version 1.11 includes a bug fix for Dropbox importing.

Touch Village has upgraded KitchenPad Timer to version 4.0. It’s a $2.99 visual kitchen timer used to manage multiple cook times for your stove-top, oven and bbq grill. Displays give you all the critical timer info at-a-glance. Version 4.0 was redesigned from the ground up with all new graphics and interface.

Mac OS X Apps/Updates

Tension Software has revved Text Converter for OS X to version 1.3. The $9.99 app converts various file formats (PDF, HTML, RTF, RTFD) to standard plain text using drag and drop.

Version 1.3 sport an improved layout. Now all the window area can handle drag and dropping of files. The upgrade has also been optimized for OS X El Capitan.

Cisdem has given us ContactsMate 3 for Mac. It’s an update of the contact management software that will analyze, report, and fix issues with OS X Contacts.

It will also and export the Mac Address Book to different formats for contacts back-up or syncing. With version 3, you can make groups respectively for your family, friends, colleagues, clients or work contacts, etc. Also, when problematic contacts are found out and sorted, you can perform bulk modifications on the similar questionable Contacts or neglect these problems as you will.
