Rumor roundup: OLED iPhones in 2017, but no waterproof iPhone this year

Rumors surrounding Apple always fly hot and heavy. Here are some of the rumors making the rounds….

A report claims Apple is planning to incorporate OLED display technology in its iPhone lineup in 2017, a year earlier than previous estimates, though the new screen technology will be limited to certain high-end models due to initial supply constraints.

Speaking of Apple smartphones, the upcoming “iPhone 7” may not be waterproof as some have hoped. The Japanese site Macotakara reports this and says that the next gen iPhone will visually be similar to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, retaining the same metal design with the same height and width.

In some non-iPhone speculation, Apple is reportedly planning to open its first major office space in San Francisco — chic new offices in San Francisco’s high-rent South of Market neighborhood.

Finally, contrary to earlier rumors, Apple apparently won't enter the bidding for the digital rights to Thursday night NFL games during the 2016 season. Recode sources say Apple, which was invited to bid, won't take up the option.
