Notable apps and app updates for March 16, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks for iOS and watchOS.

iOS Apps/Updates for the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

Hovik Melikyan has introduced Futuriana 1.0, his new Tetris/Pentix-like puzzle app Stylized as a vintage computer with a glitchy B&W display, the $0.99 app offers 5-cube pieces specifically designed for playing on touch devices. It’s a timed game with level-ups that occur at regular intervals. Players are rewarded for removing more than one line at a time.

watchOS Apps/Updates for the Apple Watch

Deezer, an on-demand audio service, has made its music service available on the Apple Watch. Users can now access their Deezer playlists from their wrists. The music library can now be synced with the Apple Watch using the My Music feature in the Deezer app.

PlayRaven has released Winterstate. It’s a free, real-time strategy game that takes players to a world where a global climate disaster has torn apart the very fabric and economy of the USA, leaving ragged bands of survivors to roam the frozen landscape in all kinds of makeshift attack vehicles. Leakka has released Travel Mate 1.3, an update of their $2.99 travel assistant. The app provides tools to help users stay in control of their money while traveling the world. You can set your trip's budget in your preferred currency, and record your expenses on the fly in any of the 153 foreign currencies. The built-in image repository has also a fullscreen image viewer with support for pinch and zoom gestures.
