Notable apps and app updates for January 8, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks for iOS and OS X:

iOS apps/updates

Remember Waldo? He's that guy with the glasses, red and white striped shirt, and red and white beanie cap that always seems to be hiding somewhere in a colorful crowd. Well, you can search for Waldo & Friends ($0.99 with in-app purchases) in this popular universal app. That price is 50% off the usual $2.99 for a limited time, so buy it now!

One of the first iOS games that I really got hooked on was Cut the Rope, with little Om Nom trying to get candy. The physics of the game are challenging and the game is just plain cute. Well, Om Nom came back in a new sequel called Cut the Rope: Magic! ($0.99 with in-app purchases). In the new game, Om Nom can be transformed into five different characters, each with different magical skills. Looks like fun!

OS X apps/updates

CloudMagic ($19.99) is an email app for OS X, iOS and even Apple Watch that is gathering a lot of fans. It works with Yosemite and El Capitan, provides instant push notifications for all types of email accounts, supports Microsoft Exchange, works with handoff between your Apple devices, and provides a unified mailbox for all of your account. If you were unhappy to see Sparrow killed by Google, then CloudMagic is probably the solution for you.

So, we're eight days into the New Year and you're still on top of those resolutions, huh? One great way to keep up with habits is to use Momentum Habit Tracker (free with in-app purchases), a cross-platform (Mac, iOS, Apple Watch) solution to keep you on track in forming new and good habits. It's been surprisingly well-received by the Mac community.
