Notable apps and app updates for Jan. 7, 2016

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks for Mac OS X and iOS.

Mac OS X Apps/Updates

The latest Reflector 2 update brings mirroring and streaming support for Hulu, Vimeo and YouTube videos, along with complete iPad Pro support. iOS and OS X device owners can now mirror or stream content from these video platforms to any Mac or Windows computer running Reflector 2.4.

Reflector is a wireless mirroring and streaming receiver that works great with AirPlay, Google Cast, and AirParrot 2. Version 2.4 is available now as a free update for current Reflector 2 users. It can be downloaded from the Reflector 2 preferences menu or from the Reflector 2 website.

iOS Apps/Updates

PVDAPPS has announced Heart Rate Plus 1.0. It’s a heart rate monitor app thatmeasures your heartbeat using your iPhone or iPad's camera sensor and flashlight by processing the images of your pulse on your finger. Heart Rate Plus is offered in free, ad-supported and paid, ad-free versions.

Hi-Rez Studios has released Jetpack Fighter, a free game that lets players blaze a path of destruction through dozens of unique levels in order to rid a futuristic world of evil robots and killer bosses.

AirVisual, a social enterprise providing air quality tools and information, now offers free air pollution forecasts for more than 5,000 cities worldwide. It’s available for free at the Apple App Store.

Hopades clicks has updated dispair, a free and unique puzzle game for iOS devices. The game depends on players finding out a given order of letters within minimum attempts. Despair game features 150 game variations, arising from 5 game levels, 2 game modes and endless space to have fun.

ChangeTip has added proximity payments to ChangeTip, which allows anyone with a Facebook or Twitter account to send and receive money to and from each other internationally with no fees. Version 1.5.0, which introduces the addition of proximity payments, lets users broadcast their location using GPS and find others nearby.
