Big Apple event rumored for Sept. 9; what can we expect?

John Paczkowski of BuzzFeed — quoting unnamed "sources familiar with Apple's plans" — says the company will unveil new iPhones the week of Sept. 7 — probably on Wednesday, Sept. 9. He also thinks Apple will unveil the next generation Apple TV, new iPads, and perhaps — though Paczkowski thinks it's a long shot — the long-rumored iPad Pro.

According to various and sundry reports/rumors/speculation, the next gen iPhone (probably dubbed the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, but perhaps the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus) will sport: a 12 (or perhaps 10) megapixel, rear-facing camera; a 5-megapixel front-facing camera; a Force Touch sensor; and a stronger aluminum 7000 body. It may also come in a pink or gold "flavor."

The next gen Apple TV set-top box is expected to be slimmer, pack an A8 chip, a touch-pad remote control, an improved operating system, and Siri support. We should also expect an Apple TV App Store and a software, but no Apple TV streaming service for now.

The iPad mini 4 will see many of the same upgrades received by the iPad Air 2 last year: an 8MP FaceTime camera, A8 processor, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a slimmer body. The iPad Air 3 will remain mostly unchanged from the iPad Air 2, but will be upgraded with an A9 processor.

As for the iPad Pro, Depending on which rumor you believe, the super-sized tablet will: have a 12-inch screen; run Mac OS X; have USB ports; have a keyboard port; come with a stylus; be 7mm thick and weigh 700 grams. My prediction: it will have a 12-inch screen and Apple will offer an optional stylus. However, it won't run Mac OS X or have USB/keyboard ports, per my crystal ball.
