WWDC 2015: OS X El Capitan Key Features

Apple today unveiled OS X El Capitan, the successor to OS X Yosemite 10.10. Besides overall performance improvements, the next generation desktop operating system from Apple is chock full of minor improvements to many different apps and core technologies that drive the OS. Improved Spotlight Search First and foremost, Apple is improving Spotlight search, adding new information such as weather, sports, stocks, web video, and transit information. With even more information to display, Apple now presents search results within a resizable window that can be moved around the display. Spotlight also is smarter, allowing you to use natural language to search for an item. It also pulls in additional Split View One significant addition to OS X El Capitan is a new split-screen view for full-screen apps. This new view will allow you to run two Mac apps side-by-side on a single display. You also can easily share content between the windows. When you are done, you are one swipe away from your desktop and your previous single-window workflow. Metal for Mac Apple is bringing its graphics core technology, Metal, to the Mac. With this technology built into OS X, system-level graphics rendering will increase by 50 percent while efficiency will improve by 40 percent.
