Notable apps and app updates for November 17, 2015

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are today's picks for iOS, tvOS, and Mac OS X:

iOS Apps/Updates

Idle Sword, the web game from GamesButler, is now available for free. You explore dungeons, find new heroes, and battle various enemies. 

G-Productions has introduced Yukti 1.0. It’s a free puzzle-music game game played with the tactics, creativity and imagination of your touch. Yukti immerses the user in a journey through outer space and broadens a user's perception about how to find unlikely paths to reach their destination. You draw a stroke that travels in space with the speed and the path that you define.

Simply Entertaining Games has announced iRun Chase 2.0, a free, endless runner, 2D game. The player has to run, jump, fly and glide to avoid dangerous obstacles. 

CodePix has released CodePix 1.2.1. The free app lets users create their own privacy based on what their friends know. With CodePix you can send photos and messages that can only be revealed with a gesture or text passcode.

tvOS Apps/Updates

Rekkener has released Oinky Boinky for iOS devices and the new Apple TV. In the free game, Boinky the hedgehog wants an eagle eye view of the most beautiful locations around the world. His friend Oinky the pig offers his piggyback as a trampoline, inflating his body to bounce him high above exotic lands like Pigburg and Hamsterdam.  Gamers position Oinky by swiping the screen of their mobile device or Apple TV remote and must tap at just the right moment to give Boinky the cushioning he needs to soar higher.

Pearl Crescent has unveiled Brick Build - Thanksgiving Designs 1.0. It’s free and expands the Brick Build line of apps to encompass the Thanksgiving holiday. The app includes 16 Thanksgiving-themed designs that children of all ages can build using their own LEGO-compatible bricks. After people finish building a model based on a design included in the app, they can view additional information about the object that the design depicts.

Gogal Publishing has launched Stream Map USA - Southeast Edition, expanding Gogal's brand with stream map coverage of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Stream Map USA is a searchable, color coded river, lake and stream map displayed over GPS-enabled roadmaps, satellite images, and topographic maps. 

Each edition features a built-in search function allowing users to easily find even the most obscure lakes and streams. Three editions of Stream Map USA covering the Northeast, West Coast and Southeast are available for the introductory price of $8.99 each. A fourth edition, Great Lakes, is slated for release in late November.

Frederic Descamps has announced Starmap 2 version 1.2, an update to the astronomy app for Apple TV, Apple Watch, and iOS devices. TVersion 1.2 makes the app available on the Apple TV, allowing the app to be used as a teaching aid in classrooms, as well as a display attraction in television retailer showrooms.

The free version offers a view of the sky at the user's current location, and a minimum of search options. The $4.99 standard version offers basic catalogs, and access to customizations and settings, as well as extended search capabilities. A $14.99pro version that gives access to all options, including all planets, close satellite views, all known comets, dwarf planets, up to 500,000 asteroids, meteor shower calendars, all artificial satellites, a moon map, a 3D model of the universe, and up to 500,000 stars and 23,000 deep sky objects. Also available are the Starmap Stories, a collection of 31 animated learning modules, which are available for $0.99 each, or $9.99 for the entire collection.

Mac OS X Apps/Updates

Tension Software has announced Precise Screenshot 1.4.1 for Mac OS X. It’s an update of the tool for taking screenshots from your Mac screen. 

Precise Screenshot can select a resizable portion of the screen with the usual drag method, it can use pre-fixed size area from a customizable popup menu (with the sizes the user needs), or it can use the full screen area. Version 1.4.1 is optimized for OS X El Capitan and fixes some bugs.

Price for Precise Screenshot works with Yosemite or El Capitan. It costs $5.99 and is available at the Mac App Store.

SpriTec Software has released SuperTab 1.3, an update to their utility application for OS X. The new version adds support for El Capitan.

SuperTab enhances and extends the Mac's built-in Command-Tab Application Switcher by providing users with instant access to more than just their active apps. By the way, SpriTech is offering SuperTab at a 75 percent off sale price of $5 for a limited time.  A demo is available for download.
