Beats Music closing at month’s end; Apple wants you to to move to Apple Music

Beats Music, which is owned by Apple, is closing down at the end of this month, according to an announcement on its website. Your subscription will be cancelled, but you can move your picks and preferences over to Apple Music right now.

Apple bought the steaming music service Beats Music, and Beats Electronics — which makes the  Beats headphones, speakers and audio software — in 2014. Apple acquired the two companies for a total of $3 billion, consisting of a purchase price of approximately $2.6 billion and approximately $400 million that will vest over time.

Apple Music costs US$9.99 per month or $14.99 per month for up to six people in a household. There’s a three-month trial period.
